On May 2nd of last year, a decade after the construction of Y-40, the world's deepest thermal water pool located in Montegrotto Terme, in the province of Padua, a new project was unveiled, coinciding with the commencement of construction

We are talking about Phi 12, a brand-new pool conceived by the Boaretto family, which will be located alongside its older sibling, Y-40. It is an underwater thermal space that aspires to become a global architectural and underwater reference point. Phi 12 will consist of a 30-meter deep cylinder with a diameter of 12 meters and will be filled with thermal water at a constant temperature ranging between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius. It has been designed as an open-air facility, without a roof, in order to accommodate large equipment, both for scientific research and film productions. Additionally, it will feature a transparent ring at a depth of 5 meters and an underwater elevator with a transparent wall facing the pool, allowing spectators to follow the divers to the bottom of the cylinder. It will also be entirely eco-friendly, thanks to the use of thermal water and a photovoltaic system that will reduce CO2 emissions by 1000 tons per year.
Phi 12 will offer a wide range of extracurricular activities, including medical-scientific research and aerospace exploration. Large spacecraft can be submerged for experiments in zero gravity environments. It will serve as an international training center for specialized research and rescue organizations, as well as a Hollywood-style studio for film productions. The setting will faithfully recreate marine and naturalistic scenarios, adaptable to various aquatic environments and capable of hosting scenes with giant structures.
We can't wait for the grand opening of this exciting new space dedicated to the world of underwater exploration and beyond.
